Identifying Code-Inspection Improvements Using Statistical Black Belt Techniques

Summary: This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] Traditional software engineering techniques benefit significantly from the application of Six Sigma Black Belt techniques. The use of these techniques is demonstrated for stepwise linear regression modeling, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical process control to identify factors affecting the inspection process. Each step taken by the inspection team is described and the results are explained in terms of software engineering process improvements. A sidebar article answers three frequently asked questions.
