Six Sigma for Internet Application Development

The Internet is changing the world of business, but the accelerated pace of change is taxing development efforts. As a result, many Internet initiatives fail to add value to the customer and greatly exceed budget. One solution is to continuously improve on deliverables through Six Sigma process improvement and "best practice" sharing that characterizes Six Sigma excellence. A model is introduced to map the Six Sigma quality process against the software development life cycle. A case study demonstrates how the model enabled an information technology organization to incorporate Six Sigma into the Internet development effort and provided others in the company with the understanding of steps needed to make the initiative successful. Total commitment allows the organization to do it right the first time while satisfying customer needs and business requirements.
