Milwaukee, Wis., Feb. 22, 2016 — ASQ, the leading authority on quality in all fields, organizations and industries, has hired Shontra Powell, a global business leader experienced in growth and innovation, as its new chief operating officer.
As ASQ COO, Powell will work collaboratively with ASQ’s CEO and board of directors to provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to execute operational strategies critical to the success of the Society’s mission and vision. She will have fiduciary and managerial responsibility over resources and business operations, products, sales, marketing, communications, communities and business development.
“I’m excited to join ASQ and such a vibrant community of passionate quality professionals around the world,” Powell said. “In my role as COO, I will help expand ASQ worldwide, spreading the message of quality and the impact it can have — not only on businesses but also on communities.”
Before joining ASQ, Powell served as vice president of commercial operations for CBRE, a globally integrated commercial real estate and investment services firm, where she established a global commercial function, including resource planning, imperatives and inaugural value roadmap.
Prior to her role with CBRE, she worked for Johnson Controls, where she served most recently as vice president of global commercial operations and vice president of global client solutions. In these roles she drove process, standardization and continuous improvement for the company’s commercial operation.
Powell also previously served as operations manager and in other roles for GE Healthcare.
Powell is an active community volunteer and has served on the boards of the Milwaukee Ballet and Pearls for Teen Girls, a Milwaukee leadership development nonprofit serving 1,000 at-risk minority girls.
