Abstract: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]Contractors rebuilding the St. Pancras Station in the UK's Channel Tunnel Rail Link project are integrating lean principles and Six Sigma in order to reach critical construction milestones. Key lean construction elements deployed include real-time production planning and control; development, use and continuous improvement of standard processes; active measurements of the planning system performance and action on root cause failures; and cross-functional collaboration. Implementation strategy and tools use are also covered.
