Looking for a Web site on Six Sigma? Here are some sites that the Quality Progress staff and readers found.

www.6sigma.us/thelibrary.html
This page provides some good introductory Six Sigma papers and project examples as well as a glossary of common terms that a Six Sigma beginner may find useful. There are also links and book recommendations. Another useful tool, which is a little hard to find, is the complete Web version of the Engineering Statistics Handbook, downloadable in PDF format. Click on Six Sigma Resources Material, then Six Sigma Articles. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the links to the handbook.

www.adamssixsigma.com
Adams Six Sigma uses a process it calls Six Sigma Plus, which, according to its website, is "a planned use of strategy, total quality management and leadership development." While Adams Six Sigma is a consulting practice, its site offers several free resources, including discussion forums, a chat room, a free e-mail newsletter and a newsletter archive. An especially useful offering is its Six Sigma Plus training module, a free, 44-page PDF download.

www.ge.com/sixsigma
This portion of General Electric's website is a comprehensive, free resource on Six Sigma. Written in everyday language, it diagrams the Six Sigma process, outlines GE's evolution toward quality and ex-plains the key elements of quality. The short quality glossary, which defines some general terms as well as all the information on Six Sigma, is good for anyone new to the quality industry. Users may also download a PDF document outlining the site's main points.

www.geocities.com/bobgsma/index.html
This personal yet interesting site from Bob Gnibus delves into the theory of quality as well as Six Sigma and has four links: Special Six Sigma Links, American Society for Quality, Market Player, and cnet Download.com. Although the latter two links do not pertain to quality, the Six Sigma and ASQ ones are very helpful. Six Sigma brings you to a page with over 30 links dealing with Six Sigma information and training sessions. Some of the sites include Six Sigma partnering, Breakthrough Management Group, isixsigma.com, and the Six Sigma Design Institute.

www.sixsigmaiq.com
This is the homepage of Six Sigma IQ, an independent division of the International Quality and Productivity Center, an organization that promotes Six Sigma through conferences, meetings, articles and best practice exchanges. Membership to Six Sigma IQ is free and includes access to project diaries, corporate profiles and articles about Six Sigma applications in management, lean manufacturing and industries such as chemical, automotive and aerospace. Six Sigma IQ also has its own excellence awards and conferences, which the homepage provides information on.

www.isixsigma.com
This easily navigated site offers several free features, including a quality dictionary, Six Sigma discussion forum, sigma calculator, events calendar, newsletter, frequently asked Six Sigma questions and a jobs search that allows users to post résumés. Visitors can view the page through the main channel or through healthcare, financial service, software or European channels. Some of the most useful free information is found by clicking Methodologies, which links to material on balanced scorecards, document control, lean, project selection and more.

And ASQ’s Resource Directory, can help you locate companies that provide quality programs and services.
