DIVISION AWARDS

The Food, Drug and Cosmetics Division offers Awards in the following categories:

Councilor Chair of the Year Award – Presented to the ASQ regional councilor who has made the most significant contribution to the success of the division with his or her region during the year.

Shirl Furger Service-Leadership Award – Given to recognize proactive support to the FDC Division’s officers and members, practice of ethics, integrity and honesty in balancing Divisional needs with Society interests, upbeat professionalism and a drive to facilitate success for all with a “can be done”, “will be done”, and “should be done right” attitude. (The Shirl Furger Service-Leadership Award was formerly the Committee Chair of the Year Award – Presented to the ASQ FDC Division Committee Chair who has demonstrated the greatest success in accomplishing the committee’s annual goals). 

The Food, Drug and Cosmetic Division Meritorious Service Award – Presented to ASQ FDC Division members who have contributed at least 10 years of service and who have significantly advanced the mission of the division. 

Mae Goodwin Tarver Award – Conferred to the individual who presented the best technical (science or management-related) paper at a division-sponsored forum or ASQ’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement.

William Golomski Award – Recognizes a unique achievement by a group or individual member who has promoted the practice of quality in the food, drug or cosmetic industry. 


DIVISION SCHOLARSHIPS

In addition, the Division offers the following two SCHOLARSHIPS to FDC members and their families each year.

The Founders Scholarship: FD&C members and their immediate family members are eligible. Scholarship recipients receive an annual award of $1000 for four years.

The Lavoisier Scholarship: FD&C members are eligible. Scholarship recipients receive an annual award of $2000 for two years.

The process/requirements for applying for each of the Scholarships are listed below:

Founders Scholarship

  1. Meet the minimum requirements:
    1. Member of the FD&C Division or immediate family
    2. G.P.A 2.5
    3. Accepted to a 4 year University or College
  2. Complete the Founders Scholarship application form and send to Barbara Dixon. Also, for additional information, please contact her at:

  1. Write a 10 page double spaced article on "What does quality mean to you?"
  2. Provide a complete set of:
    1. Transcripts
    2. SAT/ACT scores
    3. Three references from teachers
    4. One reference from non-family member

Lavoisier Scholarship

  1. Meet the minimum requirements:
    1. Member of the FD&C Division
    2. Completed an undergraduate degree
    3. Currently working in the food, drug, or cosmetics field
    4. Admitted to a University or College
  2. Complete the Lavoisier Scholarship application form
  3. Write a 20 page double spaced article on "How will quality be integrated into your discipline?"
  4. Provide a complete set of:
    1. Transcripts of all grades from college
    2. Copy of Pre-graduate Entrance Examination scores
