Operations and Initiatives
The Energy and Environment Division actively supports ASQ’s efforts to promote the integration of quality and social responsibility. For more information on initiatives in this emerging area of practice, visit www.thesro.org.
- Provide to our committee members information about the quality-/safety-/risk management-/environmental management system-related standards, protocols, good practices and similar documents originated by the Center for Offshore Safety (COS) and American Petroleum Institute (API).
- Convey to the COS and API feedback from our committee members relative to the development and maintenance of quality-/safety-/risk management-/environmental protection- related standards, protocols, good practices and similar documents.
- Provide to our committee members education, training, and networking opportunities specifically relating to quality, safety, risk management environmental protection and related topics as they apply to the oil and gas industry.
- Actively grow the membership base and increase the “brand recognition” of the EED, Oil & Gas Committee in the Oil & Gas industry.

Sustainability Committee Committee Mission:
The mission of the ASQ Energy and Environment Division’s Sustainability Committee is to provide its members with knowledge and tools that will enable them to be leaders in their organizations and their industries with regard to the strategic integration of quality and sustainability. Organizations of all kinds are facing increased demand from stakeholders to consider the sustainability of their operations. Quality professional are well suited to provide skills and expertise, including leading change, continual process improvement, lean principles and analytical skills all of which are needed to improve sustainability performance. In addition, energy and environmental professionals are located in industries that are at the center of high-visibility sustainability issues and can therefore provide leadership that benefits their organizations and society at large.
