Upcoming Conference in Las Vegas
The 2003 Energy and Environmental Conference will be held September 14–17 at the Rio Suite Hotel in Las Vegas. This is the "nation's premier conference addressing quality, environmental, health, safety, and security management systems." The Energy and Environmental Division of ASQ sponsors the conference, with substantial support from the ASQ Design and Construction Division.
The conference will feature two keynote addresses, one presented by Joseph DeFeo, President and CEO of the Juran Institute, and the other by Dana E. Cooley, P.E., President, SeaState Group, Inc, who will speak on "The Precautionary Principle—Practical Applications for Real Organizations."
This year, the conference program will have a unique feature-two concurrent tracks, each containing two five-hour special education and training sessions:
- "Quality Manager's Guide to Integrating Quality and Environmental, Safety, and Health Functions," presented by Thea D. Dunmire, JD, CIH, CSP, President, ENLAR Compliance Services; Eric L. Madsen, EMS-LA, CHMM, ISO 14001 Team Leader, Intertek Certification Services; and Ann Phillips, President and CEO, Quality Techniques
- "Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions," presented by Dr. John R. Dew, Director, Continuous Quality Improvement, University of Alabama
- "Combined QMS and EMS Auditing Using ISO 19001 and QE 19011S," presented by Gary Johnson, U.S. EPA, and Mary McDonald, ISO/QS, Inc.
- "Implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 9001:2000 at a Design and Construction Organization," presented by Ray Crawford, Parsons, Inc.
