Mark your calendars!!!
The 2003 Energy and Environmental Conference will be held September 15–17, 2003 at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ben Marguglio, with Entergy Northeast in New York, is serving as this year’s conference chairman. The technical program is being organized by Tom Kartachak, and Tom Koepp will again organize the exhibitors for the conference. Ray Vurpillat will once again organize the hotel arrangements and the division’s excellent Sunday night reception.
This year’s conference will break new ground by providing four concurrent options for participants each day, along with a top-notch keynote address and executive panels. This year’s keynote address will be on "Value-Added Auditing and Ethics" by Mr. Robert King of the Registrar Accreditation Board. After the keynote address, participants may choose between attending one of two all-day workshops or may select from technical sessions in two technical tracks. This will give attendees the opportunity to select from four alternatives.All-day workshops will be offered on the topics of
- A Quality Manager’s Guide to Integrating Quality and EHS Functions, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions, Combined QMS-EMS Auditing, and
- Implementing ISO 14001 at a Design and Construction Agency.
Of course, the conference’s ever-popular general session on Hot Topics at the Department of Energy will be a major opportunity for participants to be updated on changes within DOE. A similar session is planned for updating participants on policies and practices at EPA. The conference will provide 20 technical sessions on a wide range of subjects.
If you have a success story you would like to present at the conference, dealing with quality management or environmental management in a complex organization (such as in energy production; a major construction project; a DOE, DOD, or NASA facility; or a major environmental restoration project), contact Tom Kartachak at (410) 436-1431, Thomas.Kartachak@PMCD.apgea.army.mil.
