Systems Thinking: Critical to Quality Improvement in Higher Education
Abstract: Quality Approaches in Higher Education Vol. 2 (2) Dec 2011 article by Julie Furst-Bowe. For a successful approach to systems thinking, four components are needed: inclusive leadership, clearly defined set of student and stakeholders groups, a participatory planning process, and an end to end system for measuring institutional performance. These are discussed as they have pertained to the University of Wisconsin-Stout along with challenges for quality improvement in higher education.
