Manuel Caminero, an ASQ member since October 2009, is an operational excellence (OPEX) project leader for Eaton Corp.’s electrical sector in Haina, Dominican Republic. As an OPEX project leader, Caminero is the lead supplier for quality improvement and operational excellence projects. Caminero is an industrial engineer by trade and has a master’s degree in operations administration.

What do you think is most important in implementing a Six Sigma project?
It is important to define specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound goals and use proper tools for the analysis.
Why do you think Six Sigma is important?
Six Sigma helps reduce cost and improve profits.
Why do you think quality is important?
Quality is the voice of the customer (VOC) filter.
What’s your favorite benefit of quality?
Customer satisfaction and cost reduction.
Why did you choose to go into the quality field?
It is the most diverse department within operations.

Prioritize critical to quality and VOC.
