Suggestions for Quality Auditing
Posted: Aug 7, 2008 11:45 AM

Would appreciate any and all suggestions/ideas for getting associates involved with auditing.

Let me explain. I'm the Lead Auditor (in-title only) for my company. I am a CQA, and am currently having problems with getting associates who are internal auditor trained to assist with monthly internal audits. Some are very helpful, however, some commit, then are unable to perform their part of the audit due to a variety of reasons.

I have suggested to my leader to create an Auditing Department, however, he is against that because he thinks it's better to have a variety of auditors to utilize. I agreed with the variety of auditors, but I explained to him my problem with getting the auditors to follow through with their commitment to the audit.

We continually send associates to the internal auditor training provided by the Iowa Quality Center, yet, it is difficult for me to get these individuals to become involved.

Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Does the company have a performance evaluation system? Make monthly auditing part of the job description and then have it followed through as part of the performance evaluation. "People perform in the areas in which they are measured"

We have a "Review and Performance Planning Session" every 6 months for associates. However, I don't feel that the leadership puts much weight to internal auditing. They (leadership) talk the talk, but seldom do they walk the walk.

I would suggest you would get a better response on one of the Auditing boards in the ASQ Discussion Boards. This board is for suggestions and feedback on the ASQ Discussion Boards themselves - so the audience may be limited here.
