Any idea why there are two methods of logging in? Space wise one should be acceptable

Hi Laurence,

The two log-in screens that I have seen were reached by two different methods. One logon is part of the ASQ home page. The other comes up when I try to access a members only area directly. After logon at that screen, I am able to continue to the original location.

I believe that the memory size of the two screens is not a significant factor for most servers or computers today.

You are probably right. Just used to annoy me that there were two places to click on the home screen for logging in, given all the other information that was also on the screen.

Many web sites always use the same login screen. From their home page, click on a link, which takes one to the login, regardless of how you got there.

Many sites that I have member access to, do not provide a way to logout. For those, I sometimes will delete history in Internet Explorer 7, then do a computer reboot. It makes me wonder if they are tracking the web sites that I visit. Travelocity is one that comes to mind that does not have a logout. The only way that I have found there is to say "Not <name>", and it appears to reset the login.
