Collision Sensor Makes Time for Corrective Action
The SR-61 Collision Sensor from ATI Industrial Automation offers a lower operating range for applications using 3 to 5 km capacity robots. The SR-61 features rotational and axial motion, high repeatability, energy absorption, consistent breakaway points, automatic reset, dynamically variable trip points and quick response crash detection.
The sensor is adjusted to support typical loads experienced by the robot arm in angular, compression and torsional directions. It can comply to large distances during a collision in response to displacement force, giving the robot controller time to take corrective action. The SR-61 then uses locating components to reset within 0.001 in. of its original position.

Portable Gage Rotates To Measure Parameters
Mahr Federal has introduced the Pocket Surf PS1, a portable surface finish gage able to measure more than 24 surface finish parameters with a range of up to 350 μm. The drive unit can be rotated and moved longitudinally. It can measure upside down, or mounted to a surface plate, measuring stand or perpendicular to the contact surface.
The PS1 is suitable for industries including automotive, shipbuilding, aeronautical engineering, tool making and heavy machinery manufacturing. It can also be used in processing machinery and during incoming goods inspection.

Laser Design’s PM-300 Offers Real-Time Monitoring
Laser Design has released the laser scanning PM-300 extrusion profile monitoring system. The PM-300 checks multiple complex feature measurements at the rate of 12 per second on inline extrusion production lines. The continuous monitoring happens in real time during the manufacturing process so every extruded portion is verified to be within specifications.
The PM-300 is ideal for monitoring extrusions of aluminum, wood, vinyl, vinyl-clad and rolled steel shapes. It measures within ±0.1 mm of accuracy.

Photon Counter Provides User Control Over Parameters
SUI’s SU-02-SPC near infrared (NIR) photon counter is designed for single photon counting in the NIR spectrum from 0.9 to 1.6 microns. The SU-02-SPC incorporates proprietary circuits for discrimination of avalanche photodiode output pulses at low current levels. The SU-02-SPC offers user control over a range of parameters such as gate duration, repetition rate, detection probability and dead time.
Applications for the SU-02-SPC include semiconductor failure analysis, singlet oxygen detection, photodynamic therapy dosimetry, high performance optical time domain reflectometry and quantum key distribution and information processing.

Gage Sensor Suitable For Water Submersion
Ono Sokki Technology has introduced the GS-7710 digital linear gage sensor for installation in current production equipment and existing fixtures. The GS-7710 meets IP-67 protections standards, meaning it’s capable of submersion in a tank of water at a depth of 1m for 30 minutes. The gage is designed to measure dimensions, thickness, curvature, eccentricity, displacement, height, depth, flatness, variation, distortion, deflection and position.
The GS-7710 comes standard with an attached 6-ft. signal cable that directly connects to remote displays with various outputs. The outputs are compatible with PCs and statistical process control data acquisition systems.

Ceiling Panels Inhibit Bacteria Growth
USG’s reformulated Climaplus line of ceiling panels are free from formaldehyde and offer antimicrobial protection meeting the Indoor Environmental Quality guidelines for volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions. Columbia Marking Tools’ DMM 20 dot peen scribe marking head is 10 in. long and 4 in. in diameter. It weighs 6.5 lbs. and is ideal for application as an end effector on robots.
