Merging Quality Cultures in Contract Manufacturing

Abstract:When EPIC Technologies acquired the Siemens Electronic Manufacturing Center operations in Johnson City, Tennessee, it became necessary to merge its quality culture with those of its new subsidiary while continuing to keep its original customers happy. While both companies emphasized continuous improvement cultures, each had developed different approaches for meeting their objectives. Rather than viewing these differences as a detriment, the consolidated leadership team extracted best practices from both companies, resulting in an operating system more robust than was possible when each was operating autonomously.
