Digesting Complicated Processes

Abstract:Businesses today face the challenge of balancing innovation with the need to maintain control of processes. The introduction to ISO 9001 contains a process model called the process approach that is based on the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle and can be used to harmonize innovation and control in a business environment. A similar model described features inputs and outputs and is flexible enough to be applied to complex business situations or to a simple activity. An example of the research and development of a new product demonstrates that separate procedures are needed for each department involved. The overarching procedure, based on the ISO process approach, that will bundle all these activities and procedures should take into account innovative ideas that will occur in each department.
