Jim has spent 14 years at Burke, Inc. and most recently was with Harris Interactive. His specialty is designing and implementing programs that bring “the voice of the customer” into organizations that are facing complex competitive challenges. His clients are drawn from a wide variety of industries and include GE, Harley-Davidson, Fidelity Investments, Freddie Mac, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Hewlett-Packard. He has conducted global research projects and worked with managers from over 40 countries.
His technology background includes serving as a product manager at Digital Equipment Corporation and developing executive education seminars based on MarkStrat – a computer simulation used for teaching marketing and business strategy. At Burke, Jim has moderated online focus groups, conducted Web-based surveys, and developed global reporting solutions using the Digital Dashboard®.
Jim is a frequent speaker on topics relating to customer loyalty and retention. He is active in various trade associations and is on the faculty of the ASQ Professional Development seminar series. Jim has presented at conferences sponsored by Inc. magazine, Conference Board, American Society for Quality, American Marketing Association, World Future Society, Institute for International Research, International Quality and Productivity Center and other regional and national organizations. He also conducts in-house training seminars and facilitates executive retreats and strategic planning sessions. He has taught at the University of North Carolina’s Executive Education Center and at Duke Corporate Education.
Jim’s corporate experience includes working for Digital Equipment Corporation in the Storage and Information Management Group. As a product manager he was responsible for new product development and marketing of disk drives. Jim has also worked in the new products group of a major consumer products company and in a computer services start-up firm.
Jim earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC) and his MBA at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
