The 2016 Quality Education Conference & Workshop (QECW) will be held in Houston Texas at the Westin Houston, Memorial City hotel on November 12-13.
We are excited to introduce you to our four very exciting and talented speakers who will bring a new light to the education conference. They will be sharing their expertise as it relates to the four focus areas for the conference (K-12, Higher Ed, Work Force Development and STEM).
William J. Troy
Chief Executive Officer
William J. Troy joined ASQ in 2014 following a 38-year U.S. Army career, from which he retired as Lieutenant General
(three stars). His most recent position was director of U.S. Army Staff at the Pentagon. Troy served in Europe, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East.
As CEO, Troy directs the organization to advance the principles of quality, foster thought leadership in quality, and bring the greatest value possible to our individual and organizational members. His duties include ensuring the proper resourcing of our strategies and working with the Board of Directors to achieve alignment of ASQ worldwide with our mission, vision, values, and strategy. He is directly responsible for a staff of approximately 200, with headquarters in Milwaukee and offices in China, India, Mexico, and the Middle East. He is a member of the board for ANAB and the Baldrige Foundation.
Troy was commissioned in the infantry from the United States Military Academy, where he received a bachelor’s of science degree. He received master’s degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School, and the Naval War College, and was a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
Dr. John Dew
Dr. John Dew serves as Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Administration at Troy University where he is responsible for campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Alabama, the TROY ONLINE enterprise which serves over 7,000 students, and teaching and support centers at a dozen military bases in the United States, Korea, and Japan. Dr. Dew is responsible for Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness, Student Services, Emergency Preparedness, and Enrollment Management at all TROY locations, including the residential campus in Troy, Alabama.
Dr. Jay Marino
Dr. Jay Marino currently serves as Superintendent of Schools in Antioch School District 34 (in the Chicago area). He has led continuous improvement initiatives as an elementary and middle school teacher, elementary school administrator, Special Education Coordinator, Director of Technology, Director of Instruction, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools. In addition, Jay serves as an international consultant assisting American and European school organizations in their continuous improvement efforts.
Dr. Terri T. Showers
Dr. Terri T. Showers is a STEM educator with more than 25 years of experience in teaching secondary science. she has presented at educational workshops and conferences on the local, state, and national levels. Currently, Dr. Showers is supporting secondary science teachers to develop and implement the Next Generation Science Standards curriculum in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) district in Maryland. Her keynote address is on the topic, "Improving Student Learning Outcomes in STEM Education."
The diverse group of world-class keynote speakers will provide an exciting tone to the conference and offer attendees an opportunity to network with individuals who have been successful in their fields. Their innovative ideas will create the mindset and ideas needed to foster improvement in education.
