J. Jay Marino
Associate Superintendent for Organizational Effectiveness and Accountability, Cedar Rapids Community School District

Jay Marino is the associate superintendent for organizational effectiveness and accountability in the Cedar Rapids Community School District in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is also an ASQ Koalaty Kid trainer and serves as a consultant for continuous improvement processes and tools for organizational change.

Jay received his bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa, a master's degree in educational administration from Arizona State University, an educational specialist's degree from Western Illinois University and is working on his doctorate at Western Illinois University. He previously served as an elementary and middle school teacher, elementary school administrator, special education coordinator, director of technology, director of instruction and assistant superintendent.

Jay made presentations at several local, state and national quality conferences. He actively serves as the Koalaty Kid chair for ASQ’s State University of Iowa Section and on ASQ’s Educational Advisory Committee. Jay is on the Iowa Quality Center’s Advisory Council and participated as a state quality award examiner in Iowa and Illinois.

Recently, Jay served as an editor for Quality Across the Curriculum: Integrating Quality Tools and PDSA with Standards from ASQ Quality Press.
