Mairani Asks Members to Thank Legislators for Supporting Baldrige Nonprofit Category

ASQ President Jerry Mairani is calling on ASQ members to thank the legislators in the U.S. House and Senate who were instrumental in establishing and funding the nonprofit category of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

A lengthy grassroots letter-writing campaign by ASQ members and other Baldrige friends and supporters was largely responsible for bringing the benefits of the Baldrige process to the nonprofit sector. The nonprofit category was established by law in October 2004, and President Bush signed the bill providing funding for the new category on November 22, 2005.

“Now that we are at the end of our long journey to make Baldrige a truly national award, it is time to thank all those in Congress for their support,” said Mairani.
