Getting a Boost from Quality Tools

Case Study

- January 2012

Abstract: Looking to quality to provide an extra edge in effectiveness, efficiency, and service delivery in its international development work, Chemonics launched a Web-based quality management system (QMS) and achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification. Developing the QMS in accordance with ISO 9001 helped clarify the structure of work, brought consistency to processes, and provided version control and clear ownership for more than 1,000 documents in the system. From the beginning, Chemonics’ quality policy was designed to reflect the organization’s mission of social responsibility, and the implementation of ISO 9001 was intended to fit into the organizational culture.
